ReCoop Designs is a design/build artisan workshop focused on sustainability. All of their work is created from reclaimed materials salvaged primarily from the local Houston area yet they often find ourselves finding odds and ends around Central and East Texas. The primary medium is reclaimed wood, steel, and stone but often work with many other materials which are incorporated into the pieces made.
They also offer furniture refinishing and repurposing, woodwork, steelwork, lighting, and interior design. Their work strives to create unique designs that help create destination points for both residential and commercial spaces. They often work with interior designers and builders to implement their designs.
Additionally, they also offer custom sawmill services, tree felling, and raw/reclaimed lumber for sale. Their equipment includes three portable sawmills that are used to harvest and slab/beam urban and rural trees that have died from drought, infection, or felled for urban development. Unlike most sawmills, they possess the unique ability to travel to their clients to offer sawyer services. This eliminates the need for large expensive cranes and flat bed trucks to transport timbers to be milled. They also have a fixed band sawmill for small jobs if the client is able to haul their own timbers to the shop location. They also have one of Houston’s only hardwood kilns which has a drying volume of about 10 cubic meters.
